Enter your postcode below to find your MP and let them know that the EHRC’s Code of Practice will have a devastating effect on the rights and wellbeing of trans people.
The EHRC’s Code of Practice for Services, Public Functions and Associations was laid before UK Parliament on May 21st, and will have a huge impact on trans people’s ability to access essential services if it comes into effect. You can read our statement on the Code here, and find out more about what it says here.
The Code encourages the segregation and exclusion of trans people from places like toilets and hospital wards, encourages the violation of our privacy based entirely on appearance, and prevents us from freely associating with others. We expect it will mean that many trans people will desist from using services altogether, and retreat from public life.
There is a chance that a motion can be passed to stop this, so we need you to email your MP and ask them to support this.
We (TransActual, Trans+ Solidarity Alliance, and Scottish Trans) have created a template to help you tell your MP how you feel about this horrific guidance, and ask them to support the motion. Enter your postcode below to find your MP and get in touch.30 Bernard Street Edinburgh EH6 6PR
